"You're incredibly arrogant, aren't you?" James was almost amused by it. Too bad he was about to crush that arrogance, or at least he thought he was going to, with the mention of what he'd heard had happened earlier in the week.
And he was right. Of course now that he had done it he didn't feel nearly as good about it as he had thought he would. "Maybe you're right," he remarked, hoping that perhaps that would make him feel a little better about it. But it didn't seem to. So in a move that was uncharacteristically kind for him, he leaned forward to reach a hand out and touch the other man's chin, tilting his face up to look at him. "Hey, we all have off days." He smiled a little. No need to beat yourself up about it."
