Jane may have believed him if he hadn't been such a terrible liar. As it was, she pursed her full lips in a slight frown, eying him for a moment before she abandoned her post nearby the door, allowing it to close behind her, and walked further into the room.
"I don't believe you," Jane said as she took a seat on the foot of his bed. "You look like a deer in headlights, there are traces of blood on your fingers, and there's a noticeable bulge beneath your sleeve so... Just let me look at it."
