James was honestly in a state of disbelief himself. It was one thing to sneak out in the middle of the day when there were countless lunatics roaming the grounds and if someone came across you, it would be hard for them to know that you weren't allowed to be wherever it was that you were. But this was nighttime. And anyone they ran into would know that they were supposed to be locked away inside of their rooms.
The pair made it almost all the way into the main corridor before James spotted someone that could ruin their plans. It was just as he was about to step out too, and so he had to move quickly back, a hand behind him grabbing the other man's arm, holding him still behind him. It was hard not to be aware, however, of how close the other man was standing to him. The feel of the smaller, slightly androgynous form pressed against him had an impact, but he ignored it, instead focusing on watching the shadow pass, waiting just a moment longer before deciding that the coast was clear.
Tugging Fisher along behind him, they were on the move again, into the main corridor and down the opposite direction of where the figure had disappeared to. James was trying to be as quick as possible, letting go of the other man's arm to prevent any clumsiness because of it. In a matter of feet, they ducked into a different corridor, one that was darker and far more dank. A few quick turns later, James was pushing open a door, inhaling a sharp breath in light of the loud creak that it made. But it was all that stood between them and grass beneath their feet.
