Riley wanted the truth from Rez, he didn't want half-truths or lies...even if what he was told hurt. He could understand how much he had hurt Rez, Mike and Jane had ripped his heart out and basically pulverized it. He had needed someone then but he had no one, except a fucked up teenage girl who he turned to because she had been sweet to him...not because he loved her or even truly wanted her. He had wanted Rez but he pretty much didn't want to acknowledge Riley then.
When Rez mentioned his boy Riley decided to tell him something that had been eating at him for the last two years, but he waited until Rez was finished talking. "I'm sorry it...came back and I know you have been I read your file a few times last night." He was quiet for a moment and then sighed. "There's something I need to tell you, I was going to tell you when I felt it was right and since we are actually talking today I figure it's a good time." Riley wanted to pull Rez into his lap and hold onto him but he resisted. "It's about your boy, two years ago I received legal papers stating that his mother, River was naming me as his legal guardian if something happened to her. I have no clue why she would do that and I didn't sign the papers but I thought you should know." He said softly and squeezed Rez's hand.
