Riley was a bit oblivious to other people's interest in him, he kind of was purposely like that though. After the whole thing with Rez and Mike at Dax, Riley avoided people who liked him like the plague. Of course he still had a boyfriend or two in the last five years but things just never worked out right. And when it came to Jane, Riley knew she was attracted to him, he was attracted to her too. It had always been like that since highschool.
"You don't have to agree with me Rez, but I just want you to know that that is how I feel." He kissed him again and cuddled into him a little bit before shutting his eyes for a moment. He smirked at Rez saying he had his shit more together and then sighed. "Five years of intensive therapy with a very determined shrink and I'm pretty much back to the way you found me originally." He grinned and then his body stilled for a second when Rez said he wanted to hear his story.
Riley looked at him for a moment and then licked his lips. "It's not a worthwhile story Rez...it's a pretty shitty one." He sighed and rested his cheek on Rez's shoulder. "But you of all people do deserve to hear it." Riley laced his fingers with his lover's and spoke. "I grew up in a small nothing town in Texas, we had a Dairy Queen and that's about it. My father was the only doctor for our town and next, so my family was considered rich, which in a small town like that it was a big deal." He cleared his throat and then continued. "I have a brother that's four years older than me and a sister five years younger than me, I have no idea where they are now. My brother took off when he was sixteen, my little sister went and lived with my grandmother at the age of five because that's when my mother died." He stopped for a minute and then went on.
"My dad was and is mentally ill, he's schizophrenic." He sat up a bit and then continued. "My dad became a horrible alcoholic and an abusive asshole after my mom died and he stopped taking his pills all together. He had no concept of reality and after he beat the shit out of my brother so bad he put him in the hospital he ran away. That left little twelve year old me alone with my father for six years...at 18 I ran away." Riley had more to say if Rez wanted to hear it but he stopped to see if his lover wanted to hear anymore truth about the man he considered so perfect.
