"But that would take money." Cissy retorted, giving a small shrug of her shoulders. "And they don't really like to spend too much money around here." That was why nothing ever got fixed, or at least she figured that was why. That and no one really gave a shit. They were only here to be out of the way.
"What happened?" She was the curious sort. And so she couldn't keep herself from asking since he seemed willing to offer up that information. "And it's okay. I already know I'm insane." That's why he was here, after all.
"Yep." And just to prove that the steps were safe, Cissy took off up the first, running all the way up to the top where the living area was. It was easy to tell that people had been here. There was an empty liquor bottle, probably something a patient managed to snag from Nic, in the floor, and the thick layer of dust around the place had clearly been disturbed in more than one spot.
"This window is the best." Cissy was standing in front of it, looking out over the cliffs to the ocean just beyond. "Sometimes I like to stand up here and imagine that I'm a mermaid and that any day now I will go back to my home in the sea."
