"At least you've learned one thing about me," James retorted with a smug grin on his lips though the grin didn't reach his eyes. His eyes were troubled, pensive. And maybe he should talk to her about it. But he was so reluctant to open up to anyone at all. And when he did, it only came in small fragments that had to be pieced together. He was thinking maybe he'd given her too much already today.
"Why?" He asked, looking up at her. "You going to fix all my problems for me, Mara? Going to make me all better and send me on my way?" He scoffed and shook his head. "Doubtful." He fell into silence once more for just a moment before he was up and on his feet, pacing back and forth in the grass.
