"We might be." Basch sighed, oblivious to the one-sided conversation that had happened in his absence, glancing around the room for a moment. Suddenly he didn't want to abandon anything, as if leaving now would not guarantee that it all would be there when he got back. He reminded himself that not that long ago he hadn't had anything at all, so taking what he had now was still a mark in his favor. He wanted to look through more boxes, to see if there was anything he could scan through that he could simply toss into the new box to inspect later, but decided that was probably a bad idea.
He began collecting albums, more than he'd originally intended, but there were a lot of memories for him to go through and it was impossible for him to simply choose one or two without fully looking through them. Into the box went five altogether, and already he could feel the significance of bringing a piece of his family with him, back to the normal world again. Suddenly, both sides of him felt more connected than ever.
"Do you think it might be possible to transfer the tapes onto discs before we leave Dollet? I'd like to leave the tapes here for safekeeping before we leave, but I would like to watch when we have time." Technology would allow it, he was certain, but finding a suitable place to do so in their brief time in town might be more difficult.
