Basch had replayed the events since his assisted escape in his mind several times that day, but he still wasn't sure he would have changed a thing despite how it all had panned out. That wasn't entirely true. If it had been up to him Larsa would have never been taken in the first place, but his kidnapping had certain advantages, as awful as that was to admit. Without it he may not have been able to reconnect with Reeve, and meeting Elena may not have happened at all. He missed her suddenly, realizing it was the first time he'd been out drinking without her since they'd met. His current company, however, was in no way lacking, and he silently promised that for however long Balthier saw fit to buy him drinks he would pour them down his gullet like a good friend.
For now he simply finished off his second beer, quite certain his most recent glass had been larger than the first, stifling a belch as his hand patted his chest lightly. If they intended to continue as they were so far it wouldn't be long before he completely forgot etiquette. For now he could still manage. "Pardon."
Balthier's statement only drew a laugh from him and for a moment he eyed Fran as if calculating how well she might manage. She was stronger than she looked, that was for certain, but he wouldn't wish that kind of load on anyone. On his own he was a fairly sizable man, and Balthier, while slimmer and shorter, likely wouldn't be any easier to drag around while his weight demanded he simply puddle on the floor. "I think you have far too little faith in yourself, dear Fran. If nothing else I'm certain there would be several patrons quite eager to assist you even to simply lug your over-saturated cargo." As it was there had been several eyes at the bar who had followed after her upon their arrival, and there was no doubt in his mind that at least a few of them would have been happy to introduce themselves had she not had company. "Also, I ask in advance that when I undoubtedly exceed my limit someone will kindly take my phone from me." He didn't want to pull a Reno on poor Elena, and if he was already missing her he knew that was exactly what would happen.
