We were able to meet with this extraordinary young man and see for ourselves..."

"So... King Triton, is it? I'll admit, you're not what I was expecting."

"[chuckle] Let me guess: Long white hair and beard and a fish tail? Yes, I hear that one a lot."

"Do you have a fish tail?"

"Only very rarely. Otherwise, it would make having this interview considerably more difficult."

"Of course. So, what kind of power do you have?"

"You're asking if I'm one of the godlings, aren't you?"

"Well... yes."

"I am one. Triton, son of Poseidon, and rightful ruler of the Sea Kingdoms."

"Wow. That's a lot. How many like you are there?"

"Truthfully, we have no way to be certain. Could be anywhere from a few dozen to thousands or even millions. Only time will tell."

"Should we be worried? I mean, as Sea King, what is it you intend to do?"

"No, no, not at all. Nothing to be worried about. Our kind has no interest in harming humans. Doing so would be extremely counterproductive. We're just like you: we just want to live our lives and do our jobs in peace, and co-exist as we've done for millennia."

"And what is your job, exactly?"

"My job is to ensure the safety and well-being of all ocean life. Every day the oceans are used for thousands of reasons, and just like with anywhere else, as the ruler, while I welcome those who would visit, work and learn in the place of my jurisdiction, I must make sure that all of those actions are handled with the proper care and respect that would be required for any country on land. That's what I've been doing in my meetings is reminding our world and commercial leaders of the need to respect aquatic life and draw up the necessary legal protections."

"Fascinating. Anyone helping you with this? Any... Sea Queen?"

"I have a staff who assists me, the vast majority of which are ordinary humans. And while I do not have a queen just yet... There is a special lady out there. She knows who she is."

"Oh, too bad. Sorry, ladies, but looks like our handsome royal is already taken. So... Any chance we can get a demonstration of those powers?"

"Well..."

"Please? Just one?"

"[a slightly amused mock-sigh] Oh, very well..." [One sweep of the Trident and water droplets arc through the air to create a rainbow]

"Wow! Very impressive! Well, folks, you heard it here. The godlings and their power are real, and the oceans, hopefully, just got a little bit safer..."
