Nine Months!
Well, Metem, congratulations, we've made it to the 9-month mark! You guys are awesome for keeping the game going strong. ♥
In honor of the anniversary, rather than giving you a meme to play with, I'm giving you something even MORE special: EVENT INFO!
Yes, players, the next event is coming up on the Spring Equinox (March 20th), so here's what's going to be going on!
By now all the godlings in game know who they are and are becoming more or less comfortable with this idea. Many are looking to find their artifacts, and some already have or are in the process of getting them--and becoming slowly more powerful along the way. So, Gaia is going to give them a little test.
For 24 hours, JUST 24 hours--from sunrise on the 20th to sunrise on the 21st--the godlings will be granted their full powers once again. They will be gods once more--and everyone is going to notice. Here is what they can expect:
At some point on the 19th, everyone will receive a mysterious email from Gaia, warning them that she's going to test their worthiness to retake their former glory. As soon as dawn breaks on the 20th, the effects are full and immediate. The moment the sun comes up on the 21st, the spell is broken and the proverbial coach turns back into a pumpkin.
WHAT THEY CAN DO Basically, if you can find a reference somewhere that says your character has a certain trait or ability, then it is fair game for use during the event. PLEASE NOTE: They will regain all ABILITIES, but NOT any gear otherwise specified. So, no chariots, mounts, or other accessories/artifacts beyond what is specified below, and excluding any of the clue artifacts that have already been recovered or that may be recovered during this event (e.g. Poseidon's Trident, the Horn of Joshua, Kali's necklace, etc.). And, yes, this will likely also affect the environment around them noticeably, depending on the character. So, the coasts will probably see unseasonably warm weather, courtesy of springtime/fertility goddesses like Persephone, Aphrodite and Sif, while Chicago will likely get a sudden arctic blast.
For demigods, this will also be true. So, for instance, Achilles will be impervious to any and all injury except for on his heel during the event. Human-born characters will not note any appreciable changes in ability, I'm afraid. Obviously, mortal NPCs (e.g. the children of the godlings) will not experience any changes, except as bystanders.
PHYSICAL CHANGES Yes, ladies and gentlemen, for all the godlings who were anything more than human in their original form, they will be visually clearly No Longer Human. And, yes, they will be immortal during those 24-hours and CANNOT be killed, even if they have a SWAT team coming after them with weapons. However, they will still be recognizable by various friends/co-workers/classmates/family members/anyone else they see on a day-to-day basis, despite acquiring some of their trademark traits.
For some characters, this will be more obvious than others. Gods who are generally human-looking (e.g. most Greeks and Norse) will give off an aura of divine radiance and will lose some of their mortal imperfections of appearance. Tyr, however, rather than simply having a useless right hand will lose it entirely during the duration of the event. Sif's hair will lengthen significantly and be literally spun gold. The Egyptians will likely have the most obvious changes in appearance, with Seth likely suddenly looking like he has a severe full-body sunburn, Astarte will regain her horns, and Bastet will probably look like she escaped from a Thundercats LARP. Kali's skin will darken and she'll likely find herself with an extra pair of arms. Triton will probably gain gills and a fish tail if he gets into open water, and gods with noted shapeshifting abilities (e.g. Apollo) will be able to take on whichever form they so choose. You get the idea. Human characters, obviously, won't have to worry too much about this.
Also to note: all of their wardrobes will suddenly be completely replaced with period clothing. So, the Greeks will be wearing chitons and armor as appropriate, the Celts in medieval dress, etc. And, no, changing clothes won't help, even if they buy regular clothes that day to put on--they will instantly and automatically revert to the appropriate period dress. This will also be true of hairstyles/accessories, especially for the women. Cars will not necessarily revert to chariots, but things like purses and jewelry will also become "period" for the day. Once the event is over, everything will go back to normal, in terms of clothes and all other physical attributes.
Sexually active characters would be wise to note that birth control methods designed for humans will probably not work as expected between gods. Hormonal/chemical birth control meant for human women will not work for immortal women. Barrier methods meant to stand up to normal human intercourse will be much more likely to break or otherwise fail under the duress of withstanding divine power. Any pregnancies resulting from this will bring forth children who will carry the divine status at the time of conception. So, a child conceived by two humans will also be human, one who is born from the union of a god and a human will be a demigod at birth... and, yes, should two gods conceive together, the resulting offspring will be born immortal as well. Whether or not a union is fruitful can be arbitrarily decided by the players involved and then let the mods know, or you can ask me to roll the Fertility Dice to determine the outcome.
Please do note that if your character is injured during the event (and all pantheons do indicate that all gods CAN be wounded), even if s/he cannot die during this time, the wounds WILL NOT go away at sunrise on the 21st. So, if s/he sustains an otherwise-fatal injury, unless it is healed or otherwise taken care of, it could very well prove deadly once they revert back to their usual selves.
SOCIAL CONSIDERATIONS Like it or not, godlings, the cat is going to be out of the bag regarding who you REALLY are. So, if your friends and family don't know you're actually a reincarnated god, they will now if they see you. Complete strangers on the street ARE going to notice. It will be impossible to deny the truth, though some bystanders may try to rationalize it as hallucinations, weird special effects of some kind, what-have-you. Some may be accepting of the idea. Some might fall into worship on the spot. Some might panic. The ONLY way to avoid this is to not have any contact with ANYONE during the course of the event. Feel free to have fun deciding how the General Public will react. Yes, you are welcome to call in news crews, security forces, whatever you like.
Again, please note, things will not magically be erased upon the end of the event. Any property damage will not automatically fix itself. Memories will not disappear. Your actions, for good OR bad, WILL HAVE CONSEQUENCES.
Any questions? Let me know! Otherwise, since I am giving you a full week's notice on this event, I expect you to be plotting and have a lot of posting going on once the event hits! Yes, you will be able to backdate threads and logs if you don't get a chance to get everything in on the 20th. If you wish to use this post for plot purposes, feel free! Otherwise, discuss amongst yourselves. Have fun! ^_^
