Summary: Dionysus looks for an old friend.
It wasn't much of a neighborhood to speak off, just a loose collection of abandoned factories and warehouses. Any glass in the windows had long since gone, and the roofs and walls had large gaping holes in them. Despite this, a small and shifting crowd of forgotten people called it home.
Dionysus was just another bundled-up figure among a score of others, threading his way around trash fires and unconscious bodies. Nobody paid him any mind as he passed, though he moved with a purpose. He tried as hard as he could to stretch out all of his senses to the utmost, seeking out one energy in particular.
Moving as if in a maze, he wound up where the feeling was strongest-- in a collapsing subbasement, ankle-deep in water, and occasionally echoing with unpleasant sounds. Pulling a pint of Everclear out of his pocket, he put it to his lips and gulped a quarter of it in a mouthful. As he swallowed, he poured another generous measure into the water at his feet.
"You are out there; I can feel you" he whispered. He placed his wrist against a jagged rusty piece of scrap metal lying carelessly against the wall; pressing hard and sliding down, he opened a cut on his wrist, letting the blood drip down the metal so it would also flow into the water.
Feeling his blood flow, he stood there. Waiting. Listening.
