The previous day's rain had well cleared off, and a clean fresh breeze blew down the street, ruffling Nathaniel's hair as he relaxed at an outdoor table. He closed his eyes, briefly enjoying the sensation of being alive on a beautiful spring day. Picking up his cup, he savored the coffee's aroma as he drank-- exquisite as always.
He saw Nathaniel sitting at the cafe as he walked up the street, picking him out instantly from the crowd of diners-- really, the boy stood out like a neon sign, if you knew what you were looking for.
As Nathaniel set his cup down, he noticed a man standing right at the edge of his line of sight. Everything about him, from the style of his hair to the cut of his suit, said "money" in a understated and tasteful way. Only his eyes were jarringly out of place with his image, and they were safely hidden away behind expensive sunglasses.
"Pardon me," the man said to Nathaniel, sounding genuinely embarassed, "but I was wondering if you could assist me? You seem to have the look of a connoisseur about you-- I recently purchased this, and I fear I've been taken advantage of." He held out his wrist, displaying a heavy-linked bracelet hanging off it. The metal glistened oddly in the sunlight; not quite silver, but not quite platinum or gold either...
