Summary: An unexpected meeting.
Nobody had given her much of a glance, and even less of a thought, when she came into the restaurant. The other patrons were quite wrapped up in their own little businesses, wheeling and dealing with the movers and shakers of Washington. She knew Hada came here frequently-- in fact, it had been simple enough to find out she was even scheduled for a lunch meeting with one of the higher-up lobbyists for Housing and Urban Development.
She had shown up well before the time that Hada was supposed to be there, and the maitre d' had been reluctant to seat her-- but a little well-placed charm had changed his mind. Seated at the table, she looked unassuming; despite the success-oriented businesswear, she more resembled someone's grandmother than a political power-player. She didn't mind-- that was an appearance that suited her just fine.
She stood as she noticed the maitre d' leading Hada over to the table. Turning on her warmest smile, she extended her hand. "Ms. Morgenstern? I'm afraid Mr. Laffey won't be able to make it today-- he's been unavoidably delayed. I'm Rachel Hoffman, his associate."
