The building could be called a skyscraper when not compared to the Sears Tower. (And no, no true Chicagoan ever referred to that building as the Willis Tower, no matter what the name plate had changed to.) The entry level spoke of the wealth that was required to own any of the condominiums, all decked out in silver and golds. Chandeliers of real crystal hung from the ceilings, and rich velvet rugs lay along the real marble floor. No stairs are visible directly. Those are hidden away from sight. Instead the main means of traveling to each level was the four elevators. Each one went to specific floors. Of course, the fourth only traveled to one floor.
There is a reception desk in the lobby. Behind which is an impeccably dressed, clean cut man. He has a low baritone voice that people would pay to have the phone book read to them. His nails are manicured, his hair perfectly trimmed and styled. He probably makes more in a month than most receptionist make in a year. But his eternal, flawless manners would be extended to even the lowest on the totem pole. This is the gatekeeper for the rich that everyone must pass.
