Class and class conflict was a central issue in The Gilmore Girls -- Lorelai had worked her way up to manager in an inn when the show began, but she had run away from her privileged and wealthy parents and worked at the inn as a maid, raising her daughter alone. A main love interest was Luke, whose class could be debated since he owned the local diner, but who was coded as working class and was certainly seen as lower class by Lorelai's parents. His sister and his nephew, Jess, a central love interest for Rory in a string of episodes, were definitely working class. So was Dean, another main character and Rory love interest; and Sookie's husband, the fruit and vegetable farmer.
