Especially as the gap between "cutting edge" and "formerly good tech; now considered obsolete but still functional for what it did then" grows. The number of people on dialup shrinks every year... but in rural areas, it's often the only option available. (Unless you want to get insane with the satellite games.)
Dialup accessibility? I shudder to think.
I occasionally consider looking at common sci-fi tv shows and trying to figure out how they deal with disabilities. Star Trek, of course, believes it can fix them all; that's why there are no wheelchair ramps on the bridge. (Why there are no handholds for those torpedo blasts that knock everyone around, we'll never know.) And their idea of "aliens with different needs" is Spock's vegetarian diet. SGA, I believe, claims to be "military" and therefore any persons with disabilities who couldn't deal with the status quo would be retired. But Bab-5 should have put some thought into it. Battlestar Gallactica? I dunno; haven't watched it.
