Ha! Yeah, I guess the lack of definitions would be a problem. Though I meant more the need to make everything tied to a particular theory rather than simply stating an observation. I mean there's articles whose whole purpose is to point out how some example somewhere supports or contradicts a theory, but I also see stuff sometimes where the theoretical framework seems rather obligatory and the least interesting part of the paper.

But yes, I've seen some reaction posts since this began that seem oblivious to their tone and it does make some of the self-declared aca-fans look rather presumptuous.
