- thelastgoodname: Someone at metafandom has a wicked sense of humor - Because if bromance is slash with a side of gay panic, the modern Boston Wife is always very clear to point out that they're not actually having sex, and they're probably going to break up when a better job comes along, or a better (male) partner. Which reads to me as....femslash, with a side of gay panic. -
- misspamela: "Old School" meets "New School." I smell a rap battle. - But...the internet's oldest fandom is its newest. How cool is that? And how weird? I was wondering if people who are getting into New Trek are also going back to read Old Trek fic? And what do they think of it? Because that is some really different shit right there. -
- catdancerz: 'like 12 year old girls' - what exactly is the issue with 12 year old girls? why are they being used as targets of almost universal male voiced mockery, contempt and derision? -
- wychwood: why is the bechdel test still a revolutionary demand? - we get excited over things passing the Bechdel Test and how great it is when that happens, but at the same time... it is an utterly trivial test. "Two women talk about something other than a man". That's all we're actually asking for, and yet genre TV and film fails it, what, 70% of the time? It's ridiculous how trivial a level of female involvement there still is, right now in 2009, and I want to keep that in mind next time someone's trying to convince me that we're all equal now, really. -
