- brownbetty: Space:: One More Imaginary Frontier - But despite the fact that we haven't really had a frontier, an edge to humanity's reach on the globe, since before the domestication of dogs, we remain obsessed with it. - brownbetty: re: Thirteenth Child, and a million other things - Every once in a while, someone will get called on what seem to be some skeevy issues in their writing, whether racial, sexual, or whatever, and will respond with a variation on "My responsibility as a writer is not to pleasing interest groups, but rather to produce the best, the truest writing that I can." -
- cupidsbow: Intellectual Property, Remixing and Art - I see a common thread linking these practices, which is the act of remixing to create a new thing. I also see a common battlefront in terms of how Intellectual Property laws are encroaching on the Public Domain, and also how fencing laws, like Digital Rights Management, are effectively attempting to stifle acts of creativity, many of which (or their precursors) were legal in the non-digital era. -
- catechism: finding your flock - So how do you make friends? ...I have no idea. This post is more about how I think the process has changed as fandom has changed, and as various social networks have come on the scene. -
