  • [info]kindkit: on slash and canonicity - As you can see, the claim that people should only write same-sex fanfic about canonically LGBT characters is, in its effect, a kind of silencing. Very few fandoms have enough canonically queer characters to sustain much fic. -

  • [info]thelana: "Turning gay" in canon - Namely, I have the utmost sympathy for people who don't like non-canonical relationships or who don't like it when characters are turned into a sexual orientation they are not [...] My issue is that canon is frequently as bad as fanfiction in that regard. -
