I don't know if I've ever seen an fanfic author take on so many aspects so successfully in a fic of this length. From characterization, to backstory, to plot, to sexual discovery, to relationships, to more plot, to magic and magical theorythis is an immensely complex text, yet it manages to flow so smoothly. That's a real feat.
I love how you intertwined canon with the story's plot, weaving in and out of events and mentioning items/people/places that we're all familiar with. It gives the story context, and provides a level of implicit backstorywhich gives more room to character/relationship development and also makes deviations from the story we know that much more important. The story must have taken some skill to plot. I wish that we knew more about what happens afterwards, how the story ends; I wish we knew what happens to the alternate dystopia, or what happened there, how things came to be that way, where Snape's allegiances were. I hardly think I'm the only reader anxious for more in that regard. ^_^ Nonetheless I am amazed by how much you managed to fit in, and how seamless the various pieces all fit together.
It's also so nice to see a fresh take on sexual discovery like Teddy and Cedric go through here. I get so sick of labels, of panic of bisexual/homosexual feelingseven though both have their place, of courseand I loved that these boys took it in stride. Their acts and feelings were still a big deal, but they came with a different set of problems. It felt very natural to me, and made their relationship shinethey were both people, the relationship felt real and meaningful and lifelike.
Truly, I am impressed. Nice work, anonymous author, and lucky Tarie for receiving such a gem. The care that went into this fic (or that I assume must have gone into it, at least) amazes me, and the final product is wonderful and enjoyable. I'm glad I had the chance to read it.
