"Some girls have all the luck," Sophia teased Adley right back. While her metabolism didn't run quite so high as that of the rabbit shifter, she had spent most of her formative years doing highly physical work, and she still regularly worked out, ran daily, danced when she could. She wouldn't burn everything in a night, but she was active enough that she never really did worry about what an extra cupcake would do to her silhouette. "You're right," she said, nodding along. "It's one night a year, so we should definitely take advantage."
She peered into her own goodie bag but decided against eating anything else just yet. She'd already put away a chunk of it, and she wanted to save some for when she was back to work and couldn't get away. "I'm not sure yet," she said thoughtfully. "I'm not sure I want to know what's coming." She'd wondered, more than once since learning the fortune teller was going to be there, if she'd have done anything differently if her younger self had known what was coming. "The things that happen to us and how we react to them in the moment sort of define who we are as people, don't they? I wonder if knowing in advance would change that in any way."
She grinned at Adley. "Well, I appreciate the referrals," she said. "No wine for me either, at least not until later tonight. Hopefully you two won't be too busy today."
