Fic: Stupid People
Because I got showed that awesome art(Go here! It is art by luco_millian), I wrote more Mercverse. Cloud's a snarky little thing. Hope you enjoy this one as well.
“You guys really aren’t that bright, are you?”
As the two men standing there glared at their captive, the blond smiled back. “No, seriously. Why the hell did you think I would be a good hostage? Yes, I know that I’m vaguely related to the royals, and I know that you know you can’t kill me by accident. But you really are just too stupid to live if you thought you could just grab me.”
One of the men, who would have been easily forgettable if it hadn’t been for the fact his had a massive scar running down his face, glared harder. “Why don’t you shut the hell up like a good bit of bait? We just want you to catch the big bounty in your little company. You’re just the easiest to catch.” He leered. “You are rather pretty, and I know there are ways to scar one of you freaks. Just takes a bit of effort. Don’t make me have to take that effort.”
The smile grew a little feral. “Oh, see, now that was just the wrong thing to say,” the blond said cheerfully.
“Why is that?”
Cloud smiled sweetly, and it was then the men heard the commotion. “Because I can hear gunfire. And if I can hear gunfire, it’s already too late.”
Before the two men in the room could react, there were much closer gunshots. Several cracks appeared in the window as Cloud rolled backwards, dropping out of sight behind the desk. Two figures slammed into the window, which shattered easily due to the weakening from the bullets.
Wings, which had been folded as the brothers had hit the glass unfurled and Chaos and Vincent both gave the men blood-filled looks. “That was rather foolish of you,” purred Vincent, gun pointed easily at the scarred man. Chaos just grinned at the other man, flexing his claws.
Then the door blew in with a gout of fire, and the only people who reacted were the two men who had, until a few moments ago, been in charge.
In strolled Sephiroth, who sighed and pushed his glasses back on fully, green eyes still glowing faintly through the black lenses. “So, these are the two idiots who thought it would be a good idea to take part of a demon’s pack,” he said idly, barely paying them any attention. A blur next to him, and only the fact that pack knew pack kept Vincent from shooting Zack as the man collected Cloud.
“Spike, we need to do something about this being grabbed thing of yours,” the dark hair man said cheerfully as he easily picked the locks and freed his friend.
“Hey, they were after the bounty. Might I add that you are currently the most valuable of us now if you go by prices on our heads?” Cloud gave Zack a look, waiting to see his reaction.
“Not my fault that the bad guys don’t like a bit of advice.”
“Zack, telling the head of the local mob family that he looks like something a monkey shit out backwards is not a good way to make friends.”
“May I throw these two out the window? We aren’t on the third floor.”
There was a wicked bit of humor in Chaos’s voice, but one could only hear it if they actually knew the man.
“I agree with him, Cloud. It would be a good object lesson.” And there was Vincent with his two cents.
Cloud shook his head. “People like this are rather dull. The last bunch didn’t learn that fast, so I doubt these will be any faster. Besides, they got stuck playing babysitter.” Blue eyes were bright as he glared at the men.
“If you touch our people again,” came Sephiroth’s cool voice from behind. “We will take the building apart piece by piece. Then, we will start on the businesses your boss runs. Pass that along for us. Because you are too stupid to have a setup this good.”
And with that, the silver haired man nodded at the others, and then turned and left. Cloud looked at Zack. “Do I even want to see what you guys did on the way up?”
A cheery shrug. “I don’t think anyone is dead.” Then Zack went after his friend, bouncing along besides Sephiroth.
Folding their wings once more, Vincent and Chaos took up spots on either side of Cloud, only one step behind. Bodyguard positions, and the older man knew he was going to have to deal with the over protectiveness for a bit. “Let’s go home, guys,” he said, and then headed out, ignoring the two men completely. “Remind me to find out what I can about the man who put the bounty on Zack. We need to deal with this soon.”
Humming cheerfully, he followed Zack and Sephiroth. Nice to know that he could count on his people anytime.
