Sometimes the plushies he made picked up the strangest quirks from the people they were based on, or even the other plushies around them. People, too.
Once he had introduced his current group to the plushies of themselves, he had gone ahead and started letting the others out of the rooms they tended to stay in. Not that Cloud ignored any of them. No, no, but he did tend to ask them to stay in certain places, places that none of the others went cause they were Cloud’s rooms, his places he went to get away from everyone.
Or, as Zack commented, to get away from them, if not everyone.
Almost all of the plushies loved Zack to pieces. It was almost cute to come into a room and find Zack asleep on the couch or something, and little figures all over him.
Sometimes, though, Cloud was sure that he was going to have to strangle them all.
“Why,” he asked, starting at Zack and the roughly dozen plushies around him, pranksters all, “are you covered in sugar and what looks like the remains of a fruit bar?”
Zack opened his mouth to explain, only to stop at Cloud’s upraised hand. “On the other hand, I don’t want to know. Just…make sure to clean up.”
“You’re right, you don’t. Got anyone you want us to torment? And maybe pretend you didn’t see any of this?” Tiny Zack plushie, who was hanging from the collar Zack was wearing, grinned at Cloud.
Yeah, strange quirks. He reeeeeealy didn’t trust that smile on Duo’s face as the little figure had clung to one of Zack’s spikes. Or the fact that the others were trying to sugar the deal of him
“No explosions, either.”
Ignoring the tiny voices of protest, Zack carefully staying quiet, which just made his head ache worse, Cloud turned and wandered off.
He pretended that he didn’t know anything about it at all if anyone asked later.
Especially if anyone asked later.
“He’s going to gut you,” Plushie-Zack said as they watched Sephiroth sneeze like mad. “He’s going to take you apart bit by bit to figure out how Cloud put you together.”
Plushie-Gene smirked. “How was I supposed to know that he would react that way?”
“Cause he said that spice made him sneeze.” Plushie-Zack paused. “Oh, look, he’s coming this way.”
Seeing watering cat-eyes fixed on him, the redhead plushie eeped. “Well, time to go see what Cloud is up to,” he said, taking off as fast as his little legs could carry him, heading for any of the ways that Sephiroth would be too big to get through.
Grinning, Plushie-Zack settled back to watch.
Chaos had no idea how he had gotten talked into this. None what so ever.
But as he watched tiny figures use his wings for slides, he did have to admit, this was kind of nice. Normally small, cuddly things avoided him. Too many of these figures were based off half-demons themselves, or knew such things in their lives.
The ones climbing through his hair, on the other hand, he was going to have to do something about.
In a minute.
A moment of silence.
“Did a set of blond plushies just race through here on a couple of puppies?”
“Yeah, that was Naruto and Vash.”
“Okay. Just making sure.”
He heard the bird just for a second before awareness kicked in, and then Cloud spun and snagged Plushie-Goku out of the air.
“But Gojyo dared me.”
Blue eyes narrowed. “I thought after all this time, you would realize that that is a good reason to not do things.
Gold eyes started at him, and Cloud sighed. “Look, the others are using Chaos as a playground again. Go do that. I’ll bet he can be a lot more dangerous that attempting to fly a pigeon would be.”
Gods, they were going to give him a heart attack one day, they really were.
