It was understandable, certainly, and the way the First Order operated was one of those things that bore a certain amount of unspoken criticism about it. No one was actively going to say the words, but there were plenty who held that their rules of war, as it were, were not exactly as civil as the plans they liked to think. Hux had never known differently, but enough very vague whispers in shadows had at least given him the idea that there were some who felt that way, though they didn't speak out either.
His lips twitched the slightest bit at the suggestion there. There WAS a lot to blame the wannabe Sith Lord for, it was true, and Hux was more than willing to go with that. "An opportunity that I believe could benefit both of us, as far as excuses go."
And as to the next question...this was the moment Hux needed to choose his words very carefully. It was impossible to know who may have eyes, or ears on this conversation now, even knowing the place was now in Resistance hands.
"I have no idea what you are talking about." He lied. "Who would be reckless and insane enough to admit something like that?"
