It took a lot of mental hurdles to get to here. Reminding himself Gamora was gone, that it was okay, that maybe something happening would be okay even if it meant something more stable and monogamous. Oh, and that Noel wouldn't just end up getting killed by his father or something epically awful like that.
But this was comfortable - whatever it was. And that was a nice feeling that Peter couldn't ignore. He also needs a moment and spends it making a big exhale and muttered 'whew'.
