The bullet hole in her side was the same as a bullet hole through any metal, shiny-bright at the point of impact, and the point of egress, ragged-edged, like a hole punched through tin.
Apparently the metal cast she'd taken on at the start of the mission was no more than skin deep, and wasn't bulletproof, either that or someone had gotten wise and used armor-piercing bullets.
In any case, she managed another two steps on momentum alone before her knees gave out and she tumbled, the metal leeching away to plain skin with the blood welling up from the injury, seeping between the fingers of the hand she had pressed to her side.
