"You're phone?" The nurse asked, a little confused. She had only been on shift for the past two hours, and the last half hour of that keeping an eye on Mr. Cypris while his 'significant other' was force fed tea and a bagel down in the mess hall. She wasn't listed as his wife (which would have allowed her to stay actually in the room beyond visiting hours) but she was close enough- as far as the nurse figured anyway. There was a picture of her in the man's wallet, it was the proof she needed to be assured that Susan wasn't some crazy stalker.
"It's with your personal affects, but I think your girlfriend is downstairs, if you want me to let her know you've woken up?"
Susan was down stairs, and well, down the hall a bit- to the left. She hadn't been left alone since the call went out that Basil was injured, everyone from his co-workers to her bosses' mother had come since the day before to sit with her- not everyone knew why she was getting hit so hard by all of this, but the rumors started. Not once had Susan made a point to tell people of her past- yet now everyone they knew... knew. She didn't have time to figure out if this was a good thing or not, not until Basil was awake and it was all okay. Then she'd have time. As it was she was having her first food since the morning before- and only picking at it. Because, if he didn't wake up- she wasn't sure she'd be able to herself. It was bad enough to do this once... but again? Everyone had their limits, and she could see the edge of the cliff from here of hers.
