At first as Lothiriel began to speak, he wondered due to what she said, if the woman had indeed been telling the truth when she had said the queen sent her to replace her. Not that he would have taken up such an offer, but did wonder over it. Luckily he stilled his mouth though and allowed Lothiriel to carry on talking, as otherwise he would have made worse all that was going on between them, instead of hopefully giving aid to clear at least a few of their problems up. As far as rumours were concerned, they’d kind of slipped his mind, but as she mentioned them, they came back full force, and of course he’d merely found them amusing and rather silly not quite understanding why Lothiriel would find them anything but such either, only again the whole cultural differences were coming into play once more.
As she moved closer, he did reach out a hand and lightly cup her face in it, a thumb lightly tracing over her cheek bone as she talked, leaning forward when she finished, he lightly brushed his lips across her forehead.
“Lothie, I have not replaced you,” a frown growing on his face, for he knew now, he had to be more careful of what he said, say the truth, but say it in a thought out way and not merely a jumble of words that could be misunderstood. “The woman,” his cheeks burning slightly as he said it, not because he had warm feelings or any kind of desire for her, but due to what was to come from his mouth next, “the woman, who you saw me naked with, I …” well he didn’t know what to say about that particular occurrence, other than, “I was bathing, she appeared, and then you were there, and all I could see was you and nothing but you.” Which did actually embarrass him slightly as he was more than sure she must have noticed how his body had responded when his eyes fell upon her? Or maybe, now this was a new thought, she’d believed his body had acted such due to the woman who had herself sprawled over him? So, he decided, because let’s face it Eomer’s interaction of any kind of personal nature were limited, to go into that more in depth. “My arousal only came when I saw you, it had nothing to do with her, you believe me don’t you? Lothie, I could never wish to ever touch another woman, the way I touch you, nor ever want to have to think of doing such.” Because the words of the Elders were playing in his mind, their constant sniping about taking mistresses and having women in one place or another whilst keeping the queen in the palace.
“She came to me, this day, saying you wanted no more of me, that you wished for her to replace you and I …” oh yeah, and he banished her. Well he’d done more than that, “and I lost my temper, I am not ashamed of my actions, but I believe they were of a selfish nature, I banished all your ladies in waiting from Rohan, Lothie.” His eyes looking down at the space between them. “She made me feel uncomfortable, and she angered me, and it angered me more to think you would send another woman with the intention of doing that which should remain between man and wife,” his face by this point a bright crimson in colour as his thumb had travelled lightly down her face and was softly rolling over her lips.
“I feel so ashamed I have let you believe such things,” he whispered, “I love you so much at times I think I am going insane, when I am away from you, but I fail so utterly to make you realize just how much my heart is truly yours and yours alone.”
