Eomer had no inkling that Lothiriel had viewed any of the scene that had passed, and at the moment he was too angry to think very much about such matters. He stomped all his way back to the palace and began to roar out various names, calling riders from their chores to attend to that which he required. Bellowing angrily about Dol Amroth whores, which did not sit too well, with one particular rider, namely Theodrake, who amongst all the others spoke out.
“I suggest my King lowers his voice, for the lady Queen is of Dol Amroth.”
It didn’t actually stop Eomer’s raging, but he toned down what he was yelling and carrying on about. Of course all the noise, was not something that any in the palace could truly ignore, and the elders came sweeping into view, this time bringing with them Lady Wedia. The Dol Amroth ambassadors were merely noticeable in their failure to appear in any form or means.
Just as Wedia led in the elders, so “I will not have my queen attended to by trollops, get rid of them all, take them and their disgusting habits back to Dol Amroth, get rid of each and everyone of the damn whores now!” His angry stormy blue eyes then laid themselves upon Wedia, knowing full well she had something on her mind to say and in his anger he would not permit her to speak.
“Not one word Lady Wedia, it maybe common place for ladies in Dol Amroth to set themselves upon another’s husband, but it is not so in Rohan.” Lifting a hand with a gesture that made it impossible for Wedia to get a word in edgeways, “I will not tolerate my wife being surrounded by such cheap women, she can pick out new ladies from those here.” With a face like thunder, Eomer went rampaging out, the men having their orders to go about gathering all the ladies in waiting belongings and escorting them all from Rohan soil.
Whatever Wedia’s thoughts on the matter, well Eomer would likely find out at some point, but he was moving too fast, and was far too angry to even look back and offer her an apology for the way he was acting. What he was ordering, was not right, nor was it a proper, but he couldn’t careless and when Eomer set his mind to something, the right or wrongs of his actions didn’t quite set in until after he’d achieved them.
The elders looked towards Wedia with a look of expectancy about them, as if they expected the older woman to sort it all out, as really none of them understood what had brought this all about, yet any lady and especially a queen was permitted to have ladies to wait upon her that she felt more comfortable and at home with. This would no doubt stir up another hornets nest with the Dol Amroth ambassadors, of which the Elders did not wish to deal with, so looked to Wedia for an answer.
Of course not all of Lothiriel’s ladies in waiting here cunning calculating vixens waiting for her to fail and try to snag the crown of Rohan for themselves, only Eomer was indeed tarnishing them all as such. Well apart from Wedia, but he’d forgotten she too was in one sense or another a lady in waiting. At first as he barged out, he was intending to head towards the children, for he did not wish Lothiriel to see him in such a foul mood, but also as his mind became more clear, neither would he wish for the children to see him in such a way either.
Instead he too headed towards the barn, having very little idea that Lothiriel was up there, he climbed the ladder, and saw her shape laying sleeping on the hay, and let out a growling like sound before he plonked himself down firmly on the ground beside her.
“Why is it, when I wish to be alone, I find that you are already there trying to do the very same thing.” He muttered out, only really doing so because he could tell she was sleeping, though up here it was an escape of sorts, up here they could merely act as they had when they were children and of course he still did not realize she had witnessed more than he already knew of. Lying back on the hay, he began to kick his boots off, his ill temper slowly easing itself as he concentrated on listening to her soft steady breathing.
