Lothiriel was not sick, but when the trumpets heralded the arrival of the king she had been asleep, and since the champion had been waylaid she was not woken. Finally Wedia had come to her, and was shocked. "Why are you not out greeting Eomer!? He is back, Lottie."
Lothiriel popped up when she heard Wedia's voice. "Eomer? He is back? OOOO Thank the gods!!" She rushed out of the bed, ran out of her chambers, down the hall, almost falling as a her foot was caught in one of the flags but caught herself against the wall. The only thing that was going through her mind was relief, and that Eomer was home safely.
She finally hit the palace doors, and ran out into the courtyard, and toward the stables, wondering if he would still be there. Then stopped dead in her tracks, her mouth dropped open, it was the woman. The woman from the day he left draped all over him like a mink stole. Her eyes became sad, he had replaced her. She turned and ran the other direction, she ran blindly, but really not so blindly as she thought, she was running to an old spot she used to hide when younger. There used to be an old barn way in the back past Meduseled, and she ran there, climbed the ladder of the hay wrack and sat up there.
She was so tired, so tired of everything, she tried to be brave, tried to do the right things, but somehow Eomer and her were being driven farther and farther away. She folded her arms on her knees that were raised, not caring that it was unladylike and placed her head on her arms. She had no more tears to shed, she just sat there in the cold dark silence.
She remained there not caring if anyone found her, maybe she would die up there starving, as she didn't feel much like going back to the Palace, and if Eomer wanted the other pretty little Dol Amroth Lady in waiting well who was she to stop him? He was her King, and the King got what he wanted. She finally lay down all the way in the hay, and curled into a ball. She wished she could have at least been as good a leader as Eowyn was her last thought before she fell into an uneasy sleep again.
