Eomer was somewhat confused at her statement, he was merely concerned for her well being, and so he just remained quiet, keeping an eye on the children, picking up the baby when he woke up and hiding the smiles that kept appearing on his face as the infant wiggled around in his arms, making sure they were not present when Theodrake entered. Not that it matter because Theodrake had been part of Eomer’s troop of men before he had appointed him to be Lothiriel’s champion. So he was more than aware of the King’s compassionate nature as far as children were concerned. When Theodrake left, he watched Lothiriel administer the medicine to the twins, and watched as they almost immediately drifted back off too sleep.
Before Lothiriel had finished he went and placed the baby back in his crib and sat beside the still sleeping little girl, running his fingers lightly through her tangled hair, wondering what kind of strength the child had found in herself to keep all these other little ones alive and safe for however long they had all been hiding together. It was easy to work out at least with the twins and the other child who had been riding with Deorwine, that at least those were not in anyway related. They had not found a homestead near to where they’d came across the children either. So they must have travelled some distance. He watched Lothiriel as she drifted to the crib, and sighed. Not that he pulled himself up from where he’d sat himself.
When she stopped moving around checking on the children, he looked pointedly at her, “are you quite finished now? I said nothing before, because your words made no sense. I did not say you were weak, merely that you are ill. It is not my imagination telling me such Lothiriel, for when I entered our chambers, well,” he didn’t want to say he had cleared up her vomit as he was sure she already knew that. Her personality was so different when she was addressing him, and he could not help but to wonder more on some of the strange things both the elders and her own people had been saying too him. He could not truly fathom out her strange way of thinking, or what spurred her to say and act in such ways. She was looking ill before, and now she was looking even worse. Why lie about such a thing? It made no sense to him, as it was far too obvious she was ailing for something. So again he had to wonder what? She was a queen, she was not some captive in a cage made out of fancy items to make it look like less than such. She could do and be wherever she wished to be, as far as Eomer was concerned.
“I know this is not the correct place to be talking of such matters, but Lothiriel, it is obvious to me, that if you are not ill, then you are far from happy. You must feel you can talk to me over such matters, for we are to be man and wife for a very long time, and all this talking around things, and acting out of character is confusing me, and making me ponder thoughts of my own for the causation of such.”
