Who: Chris and Juliet
What: After rehearsal rehearsal! Chris being awkward, Juliet trying to make it not so much.
When: Wednesday, September 23rd
Where: The PAC.
Status: Complete.
Rating: PG!
Chris sat in the PAC reading over his lines once again, he had been practicing hard lately, today was a land mark, it was his first time running lines with Juliet out of class. Much to Chris' luck she was another pretty girl he would be intimate with during the play. He thought of how she could be single, but that thought quickly left his mind as the last two pretty girls he met were taken, and definitely not interested.
So it was the curse, it made him feel unsettled actually, he could be upsetting a lot of people, he only hoped with Juliet it would be more simple than the situation with KJ. He sighed as he flipped the page.
"Hey," Juliet greeted Chris brightly, script tucked under one arm and a coffee cup in each of her hands. She extended one arm to him for him to grab the coffee. "Didn't know how you liked it, so I got them to throw in some cream and sugar." Once he grabbed his, she took a large gulp from her cup and sighed blissfully. "I needed that caffeine fix so badly. Anyway, where should we take it off from? Or did you have anything to talk out first?"
Chris blinked as she walked in, Juliet was very to the point with discussion it almost set him back a little. He accepted the coffee graciously, he wasn't a fan but he could use some form of energy right now, "This will do." he said taking a sip before turning his head to make a sour face as to hide it from her, he looked back at her with a smile as if he enjoyed it.
He scratched the back of his head, "Uhh," he flipped through the script, "There is so many places to begin I don't even have a clue." he shrugged, "I don't think I have anything major to talk out, I mean besides the whole intimate thing... I can't say that it has gone over fondly with our Nellie."
Juliet grinned. "Ahh, you had 'the talk' with KJ, huh?" She plopped down on edge of the stage for a moment, legs swinging over the edge. "I think it'll be okay. I mean, we're professional right?" She flashed a smile at Chris. He was pretty adorable, so it's not like making out with him would be a burden. "And I promise I don't have bad breath."
Chris raised an eyebrow at Juliet, "2 points for you, I hope you hold to that!" he smiled back at her, perhaps she would be more easy going than KJ was, he realized he forgot to ask, "But you don't happen to have an jealous boyfriend I should know about-- do you?" He looked at her hopefully, there would probably be nothing left of him after the play if both the actresses he was directed to make out with had angry boyfriends coming after him. He loosened his collar a bit thinking about the ramifications.
I wish, she thought, Josh flying into her head automatically but she shook it, as if to shake the image of him out. "No jealous boyfriends. No boyfriends at all, actually. You have any jealous girlfriends? Should I be sleeping with one eye open?"
Chris let out a loud laugh, louder than he had wanted, he closed his mouth with a smirk, trying to hide the fact that it was the most outlandish remark he heard in a while. "No no, definitely not. I'm a free man so it seems. Works well for this play I suppose." Chris almost wished that wasn't true, he wished he had a girl that cared about him kissing other girls, but that didn't seem like that EVER was going to happen, unless he was famous anyway.
He was single? Really? Aw, but he was so adorable! And he had really great hair. That counted for a lot. Juliet smiled though, taking another gulp of coffee before leaning back on her elbows. "You're doing a great job so far, by the way. Rehearsing has been a lot of fun."
Chris looked at her with a smile, "Thanks, you aren't too shabby yourself!" he joked with her, "It has been fun, I mean the two of us have less drama between it all anyway." He thought of his situation with KJ once more, he still really liked her, but he just wished that there wasn't so much drama, he also wished that they would just click and sparks would fly.
"Have less drama between it all?" Juliet repeated, cocking her head a bit. She wasn't entirely sure what he meant by that.
Chris sighed, "All the drama with KJ and her boyfriend, at least we don't have to worry about that with us!" It was true, Chris didn't think he could handle that situation twice.
"There's drama with KJ and her boyfriend?" It wasn't completely uncommon for Juliet to be out of the loop. She could get so wrapped up in everything she was doing she neglected to pay attention to the people around her. "Legitimate drama? Are they fighting?" She was now sort of unfairly pressing Chris for information. Oops.
Chris almost wished he didn't open his mouth, he didn't want to spread rumors. He scratched the back of his head, "I'm not sure... I just know that she said it'd be 'fine' but she's been rather awkward about the whole thing... I mean if I was her boyfriend I wouldn't be happy." he let out a fake smile, this production was going to be interesting.
"Oh." Chris seemed vaguely uncomfortable, so she stopped pressing. She could just ask KJ herself, after all. "Well, it's just acting. If that's what she wants to pursue, he'll have to get used to it eventually." Although she could probably imagine Josh had never been too pleased about it either. Not that it mattered anymore. Now she could make out with whoever she pleased, whenever she pleased. Not that she had so much as kissed someone since him. God. "Anyway, it'll work out. Just don't use tongue?" she suggested lightly with a small smirk.
Chris' cheek turned slightly red at the mention of making out, not that it was with KJ but the idea was still new to him, as he had never been so intimate with a girl before. He cleared his throat, "Right." he scratched the back of his head again, it was a nervous habit of his. He started to flip through the pages of his script once more, he was began to sweat a little, it was settling in that he would be kissing these girls more and more, and it would become more intimate, and one of them was standing in front of him right now.
She thumbed through some pages of her own, lots already memorized but there was still a bunch she had to work on. When she glanced over at Chris, she saw that he looked sort of ... freaked out? "You okay?"
Chris cleared his throat again, "Fine, fine!" he said loosening his collar, "It's just a bit hot in here," he said smiling at her fanning himself a bit. Chris felt so lame, but he didn't want to say, 'I'm scared to kiss you' because he was trying to be professional about it all.
Was it? Juliet was in a long sleeved shirt and long pants and she didn't feel warm at all. Huh. "We can go outside if you want," she offered. "It might be cooler out there?"
"Oh! no, no, its okay." Chris said unsure of what to do now, "I'll be fine!" he rolled up his sleeves, "So what do you think we should rehearse today... we've gone through a lot already." Chris was impressed at to how far they had come, yet they still had a lot of the play to cover, especially the later half.
"Hmm ..." Honestly, Juliet sort of wanted to just run through all of their scenes but they didn't have forever to be here. So she'd just pick one for them to polish. At random. She flipped the script, landing at a random page. Nope, Nellie/John. She flipped again. No John in this one. She flipped again, landing at a scene that featured them both and slid the script over to him. "This?"
Chris' eyes grew wide as he read a snippet of the scene, "Uh... if you're sure y-you want to..." he urged her to read a snippet of the scene as well, to see what she thought. Chris wasn't sure if he was ready, but he would have to be, and if it were John deciding then it would be a piece of cake. Chris tried to shake himself free of all the worries in his mind.
Juliet actually took the time to read the scene, rather than just scanning for their names. Oh. There would be canoodling involved. Well, they'd have to get to it eventually, right? And canoodling an adorable boy was hardly work. "Sure. You know, if you're sure."
Chris' bad habit of scratching his head happened once again, "I guess we'll have to get around to it eventually," he gave her a reassuring smile. "I'm sure it'll be more natural than what KJ and I will go through," Chris began to slowly make his way back into character, his confidence picking up a little bit so he could put on a professional face. "So how do you want to go about it?"
It could be so awkward sometimes, this whole ... kissing each other on stage thing. Especially for the first time. The second, third, twelfth, sixtieth time... it wasn't really a big deal anymore. But the first could be awkward. Juliet had absolutely no patience for awkward, so she shrugged, took the situation into her own hands, leaned forward and kissed him.
Chris was about to open his mouth for another suggestion when her lips landed on his, his mind reeled. This was a new feeling to him, he was attracted to Juliet, but he didn't know much about her, so he was unsure of it all. He tried to act as if he were John and deepened the kiss by pulling her close to him, his hands landing softly on her hips.
A huge part of her had expected Chris to get all taken aback and break off, and she'd get to act all cool and suave but then he had 360'd it and kissed her back even deeper. Oh. Well. That was surprising. He was a decent kisser and all, though. So she let her hands fall through his really great hair briefly before pulling away. Wow. Okay. "There. Now we don't have to think about it."
"Sorry," he said sheepishly, "I was trying to act like John would..." he looked down a bit and back up to her when he realized she trailed her hands through his hair, it felt nice. He didn't feel a particular spark between them so that was good to a point, but it was a shame since Juliet was single and also very pretty. "Yeah I guess so!" he said with a small laugh. If only it were that easy with KJ.
"Don't apologize," Juliet said with a grin, waving her hand dismissively. "It wouldn't have been fair for me to be the only one all into the kiss." And it had been a good kiss. Life would have been simple if she could have a crush on Chris or something. But nooo. She still had to be hung up on her ex. Ugh. "Anyway, it'll only get easier after this." She cocked her head a bit and smiled as prettily as she knew how. "How'd I do?"
Chris laughed a bit at her question, "Well with little experience on my part, you're the top of the list!" he let a smile escape his lips, it was a bit embarrassing to admit, but it was true, and he didn't like to lie.
Juliet laughed. "Good to know. I think. All right, let's do this." She cleared her throat, all business all of a sudden and then took it from the top of the page. "John..."
