Who: Jason and Carys
What: moving in
When: Monday August 10th (forward dated)
Rating: PG
Where: Their new apartment
It had been a long day. It had been a long day and it wasn’t over yet. Jason realized as he muffled a groan as he glanced at his watch. He and Carys had left early that morning for the airport and after arriving at their apartment and receiving the keys and letting themselves in they’d ended up with less than twenty minutes before the moving van had shown up. Therefore they’d barely had a chance to breathe before they had to start arranging boxes.
As always the movers didn’t quite listen to instructions and Jason had spent the last hour moving boxes around so that they were at least in the right rooms. He’d just hefted a particularly heavy box and dropped it on the pile in the living room and then collapsed on the couch. “I refuse to move one more thing.” He announced with a groan. “How we end up with so much stuff?”
Carys, meanwhile, had decided that she would start putting things where they went. She'd started with the kitchen because, she thought, they would need to eat just as badly as they would need to sleep, and the last thing either of them needed upon waking from a nap was to have to organize the kitchen before they could even begin to contemplate whipping up something. Sure, they didn't have food yet, but still.
"You weren't expecting my things," she said, coming around the couch to sit by him. "Sorry. But at least it's all here, and it'll fit. If five of us could live in my mother's house, we can make it work. Plus--" She leaned forward to press a kiss to his forehead, then grinned. "I like watching you lift things."
"You like watching me lift things." Jason chuckled softly as she said that and pressed a quick kiss to her lips. "I'll keep that in mind when my arms threaten to fall off." He teased as he slid an arm around her. "I officially hate moving by the way." He added with a slight groan as he thought about what was left to do. "Remind me to never do it again"
"Oh, it's not that bad," Carys told him, tapping his nose with a finger. "It's an adventure, if you ask me, and I like adventure. And listen -- you don't need your arms all the time, so relax! Everything will be fine."
"An adventure is it?" Jason asked as he arched a brow. "Doesn't an adventure mean exploring and all that? When do we get to do that?" He rolled his eyes as she told him he didn't need his arms but he was grinning as he did so. “You are so very right, sweetheart." He agreed. 'Who needs arms? They’re totally unnecessary"
"I didn't say that," Carys protested, but though she sounded defensive, she was grinning. "I said not necessary all the time. Trying not to use your arms for an hour, that'd be an adventure, by the way, 'cos you'd be exploring what it's like not to use your arms."
Jason outright laughed at her logic. he couldn't help it , it amused him like most things she said or did , did. "Okay so you're that'd be an adventure." he agreed. "Not one I really want to attempt though. Because let's face it." He wrapped both of his arms around her and pulled her into his lap. "Life is a lot more fun when I can use my arms."
"I agree." She made it a point, though, to let her arms hang limp at her sides as she leaned in to kiss him. There was no reason for her not to see what that was like, even for a few seconds.
"So you're trying it out." Jason noted as he kissed her softly. "The no arms thing? Let me know how that works for you." He was pretty sure even trying it out for a few seconds would drive him nuts.
Carys tilted her head to one side, not shrugging because if she was going to not use her eyes, she was going to go all the way. "S'not so bad so far. An exceedingly sexy man kissed me just now. I might really like this if he keeps doing that."
"See I see a flaw to your plan already." Jason mused as he smirked at her, running a hand lazily up and down her back. "Because that exceedingly sexy man likes when he can feel your arms around him."
And how could she deny him that now? "Ooh, look, I'm cured! You've got a magic touch!" she said, slipping her arms about him so they were close, not too close, but close enough that she could press her lips to his cheek without having to move very much.
He grinned when she wrapped her arms around him. The grin fading to a simple pleased smile when she pressed her lips to his cheek. "I'm Magic? that is so very good to know. "
"You're magic lots of ways." She pressed her forehead to his and sighed. She was tired. It had been a very long day. "Maybe we should stop moving things and just sleep."
"We need to buy food." Jason reminded her with a sigh of his own. "Or at least buy dinner. Otherwise we'll starve to death." He grinned at his own dramatics. "Or I at least will whine like I'm starving to death. " He sighed again as another thought occurred to him. "Plus we still need to make the bed." he'd put the frame together and had laid the mattress and boxspring on it but they still didn't have sheets or anything on it
"There's a couch. Can we sleep here?" Still, even if they did, that didn't solve the food problem. "Let's order take-out. We can make the bed while we wait."
Jason leaned in to kiss her again a smile on his face when he pulled away. "You my love are a genius and I that is one of the reasons I married you."
"Well, of course." She gave him a peck of a kiss and bounced onto her feet, going for the phone book their landlord had given them. "Let's get pizza!"
"Pizza with everything?" Jason asked hopefully as he watched her seach for the phone book.
"Sounds great." Carys felt like she could eat anything put in front of her. At this point, the more toppings, the better. "That's a lot of pizza places," she remarked once she reached the right page. She placed the book on Jason's lap.
Jason glanced down at the page in front of him and shrugged there were a lot for a small town. "Well you said this was an adventure right?" he asked with a grin. "How hungry are you?"
Giving her very best pout, Carys flopped onto the couch again. "Starving."
"So Say we order a small pizza" Jason looked at the page again reaching over to run his hand up herm rubbing it idly. "From like three different places? It can be our exploring for the night?"
Her eyes widened, and her whole face lit up, as if she were a kid who'd just been told she'd won her very own candy factory. "You're brilliant!"
"We can compare and then figure out the best place to buy it from." Jason grinned at her words. 'I learn my brilliance from you. "
"You make me so, so proud." She wrapped her arms around one of his, the one nearest her, and leaned into him, touching her cheek to his. "I think I like Westmont already."
"I have to admit it's looking pretty good." Jason admitted as he leaned over to kiss her again. 'I love you by the way." he added as he got up to get the phone so they could begin their first adventure together in this new place.
