ellavate: Matt! What’s up? I’m been a lousy friend lately. I keep meaning to IM you
ellavate: I guess all the snow is sucking away my attention span.
ellavate: I’ve never seen anything like it!!
surfthestrings: Hi Ella!
surfthestrings: Yeah, I know what you mean, it’s ridiculous. I can’t feel my shoulders from all the digging I’ve been having to do.
surfthestrings: How’s it going? Did you have a good holiday?
ellavate: It’s hard to concentrate in class.
ellavate: I want to be out building a snowman or something like that!
ellavate: At least it’s only one class and it’s guitar so it’s fun, nothing boring, thank goodness!
surfthestrings: Yeah, it’s the hardest thing to practice when you want to be doing something else, I know how that goes. :P
surfthestrings: So just guitar, then? That sounds cool. My sisters and my new brother and I have been building plenty of snow-people, it’s been fun.
ellavate: Yeah, it’s cool. I have it every day from 1 until 2:30 so I even get to sleep in.
ellavate: It’s kind of awesome actually.
ellavate: So how were your holidays? Did you have fun?
surfthestrings: Oooh, sleeping in. :P
surfthestrings: They were alright, I guess. It was a big party all through December - my aunt got married, and her birthday was in between the wedding and Christmas, so it took us a while to clean up from all that, haha.
surfthestrings: Other than that... eh.
ellavate: Oh sounds like lots of fun! A wedding!
ellavate: I remember you telling me about that, that she was getting married.
ellavate: When do you get back to school? I miss you.
surfthestrings: Yeah, it was good times. I’m glad she’s happy.
surfthestrings: We’re getting used to having our family be one big happy family; it’s been pretty good so far.
surfthestrings: I’ll probably be at school next weekend, right before spring semester starts again. Maybe even that Friday... I have a few things to sort out before the semester starts. I don’t have a roommate anymore. :(
ellavate: What? What happened to Chris?
ellavate: Did he decide to move out for some reason? I thought you guys got along?
surfthestrings: No, he doesn’t hate me. At least I don’t think he does.
surfthestrings: Apparently, he decided school wasn’t for him and he wants to try breaking into the acting scene in New York.
surfthestrings: I guess there was a lot of fighting between him and his parents. -_-
surfthestrings: I hope he does well. Personally I think L.A. would have been better for him, but that’s just me.
ellavate: Well hopefully he’ll do well. That’s a big step.
ellavate: I can’t imagine taking such a huge step myself.
surfthestrings: I know. I don’t think I could make it myself as just a performer.
surfthestrings: Which is why I’m going to be a music therapist.
surfthestrings: You, on the other hand... :)
ellavate: Please, not me.
ellavate: I played at a show in December....a flood relief concert, did I tell you that?
ellavate: I was so scared, I made them keep the lights off, there was a slide show thing behind me.
ellavate: No one knew it was me until the lights came up but I got a standing ovation.
ellavate: Gotta admit, that was pretty cool. :D
surfthestrings: See, totally you!
surfthestrings: And no, you did not relay this information to me.
surfthestrings: That sounds epic. I’m sure you did an awesome job - I mean, since you got a standing ovation and all. :D
surfthestrings: I’m glad you got the chance to experience that. Now so many more people know how awesome you are.
ellavate: I don’t know about awesome. I sort of got tricked into it..haha.
ellavate: My dad heard me playing this song I wrote back in the summer, it was about the floods here.
ellavate: Sort of a way of dealing with it for me, I guess. Anyway, he taped it on his phone and played it for Garth Brooks who was organizing the concerts
ellavate: He called me and asked me to do it and since I had friends who had lost everything plus a good friend whose grandparents drowned during it all, I didn’t feel like I could say no.
surfthestrings: Wow, tricky ninja parentals.
surfthestrings: It must have been really good if Garth Brooks wanted you to do it. He called you personally?
surfthestrings: And I’m sorry to hear about your friends. That’s rough.
ellavate: Yeah, it was tricky.
ellavate: I’m glad I did it though.
ellavate: I was a wreck afterward but people seemed to like it so yeah...
surfthestrings: I’m glad you did it too.
surfthestrings: And you’re talented, why wouldn’t people like you?
surfthestrings: Still, though, I’d be freaked out too if it was me, so I get it.
ellavate: Thanks.
ellavate: I have to admit it was kind of a rush though. :)
ellavate: Playing at Exodus those couple of times with Joel helped boost my confidence a lot though.
surfthestrings: I’m sure.
surfthestrings: I have yet to play at Exodus though. I don’t think I’m quite that talented yet. ;)
surfthestrings: But I’m glad you had some sort of experience to help, yeah? I mean, that sounds awesome, ngl.
ellavate: Yeah, that’s true.
ellavate: Rats, I have to go. I need to head over to the Maple Center before they close.
ellavate: I haven’t been able to run to Motley’s to get food so I have to depend on the caf.
ellavate: Keep in touch! I can’t wait to see you You can call me, text me, whatever!
surfthestrings: That’s important. Go get yourself fed!
surfthestrings: Maybe when I get back we can do a Motley run since I’m sure I will need sustenance as well. :)
surfthestrings: I’ll talk to you later, Ella! It was nice talking to you.
surfthestrings: I promise I won’t be a stranger. ;)
surfthestrings: Take care!
