Who: Chloe and Tim
What: hanging out at Tim's
When: Friday July 30
rating: Pg I think
Status: Complete
There was no feeling in the world quite like that of opening night and Chloe was loving it. The show had gone amazingly well, no one had flubbed any blocking or lines and she had had one of those nights where she just felt on it. She was in the zone, completely in the moment and she knew with every step and word on stage that she was owning the character. She was in those moments extremely glad that she’d tried out for the play.
It would take awhile to unwind enough to sleep and Chloe knew it so she’d made plans to hang out with Tim. She’d filled their car ride home chattering about how the show had gone and then had decided she needed ice cream so after a run to the store they’d finally arrived at TIm’s and had settled on the couch with a carton between them, filled with mint chocolate chip ice cream with a bag of gummy bears mixed in.
He’d seen her perform before and seen her movies but Tim never ceased to be amazed at Chloe’s presence both on screen and on stage. She had a way of making you notice her even when she wasn’t trying. His father had always told him that some people were just naturals and it was easy to tell who they were. If he could have seen Chloe, he would have placed her into that category. She’d been the perfect Maggie, troubled, sexy, just a little bit funny...all the things that the character should be and even if he hadn’t been biased, Tim would have been blown away by her performance.
The request for ice cream didn’t surprise him in the least, in fact it was the perfect night for it so Tim didn’t mind stopping, pleased that she’d chosen what had become to be a favorite combination. When they were settled and he’d taken his first bite, he glanced over at Chloe and grinned. “Remember the first time you suggested mint chocolate chip and gummy bears? I thought you were nuts but guess what? I love it now.”
Chloe began to giggle as soon as she’d taken a bit of the ice cream and Tim had mentioned that. “I do remember that.” She admitted after swallowing. “I came over because you wanted company. i was telling myself it wasn't a date in any shape or form and I believe we ended up making out on the couch anyway.” She grinned at him. “Even if we hadn’t done that though the night would have still been a score since you’d gone along with the whole gummy bear thing and liked it!”
He laughed along with her as he recalled that night. “Yeah, we had a habit of doing that. Swearing it wasn’t anything and then making out on the couch.” Tim winked at her and took a bite. “Some things never change though. We still usually end up making out but it’s not always just on the couch now.”
“What can I say we like making out.” Chloe leaned over to kiss him on the cheek as he winked at her. “We’re pretty good at it too.” She decided as she took another spoonful of ice cream. “this is nice you know.” She gestured between them with the spoon. “Sitting here with you like this... it’s just...it’s easy and comfortable.”
“I think we’re damn good at it,” he said, plucking a gummy bear from the top of the ice cream and popping it in his mouth. A green one, his favorite. He smiled at her words, agreeing with them whole heartedly. It was easy and comfortable, something he would have never expected when they’d first met. “You’re right. It is nice. Nothing fancy, just you and me and a carton of ice cream. It doesn’t get any better than that, you know.”
“I think I have to agree with you there.” Chloe decided as she took another bite of the sweet treat, savoring the taste of it for a moment. “On both counts. we’re good at it and it doesn’t get better.” Things with Tim were just so easy when it was the two of them. “I didn’t think it’d be like this with you when i first met you but... I’m glad it is. So glad.”
“Me too,” he said and leaned across to kiss her, shivering a bit when their cold lips met. “Okay so we have to work on warming up our lips. That was damn cold!” He laughed and pulled away to take another bite of ice cream. “First we finish the ice cream.”
“It is nice to know that you have your priorities straight.” Chloe told him with a bright laugh as she shivered from the, very cold kiss right then. “Ice cream before kissing. “ She truly meant it though and on impulse took a spoonful from the carton and offered it to him. “Doesn’t mean we can’t have fun while eating it though.”
He took the bite from her, smiling as he ate. “You’re brilliant sometimes, did you know that?” he asked once he had swallowed. “and I agree that we can have plenty of fun eating this.” Tim reached for the spoon and scooped up a bite, making sure that he grabbed some gummy bears along with it. When he was satisfied, he offered her the spoonful.
Chloe grinned as he took the bite. ‘I do love when I get called brilliant.” She admitted as she leaned over to take the bite Tim offered her. “Almost as much as I love the fact that you made sure there were tons of gummy bears in that bite.” She added once she’d swallowed. “Nice Tim”
“I’m trying to seduce you with sugar,” he quipped as he took a bite from her. “I know you well. The way to your heart is through junk food. One thing I learned very quickly when we got together.”
“Hey it takes more than sugar to seduce me!” Chloe exclaimed with another giggle as he took the bite she offered him. “at the very least the man offering me sugar has to be semi attractive!” She insisted.
“That’s a comfort,” he said dryly. “I’m at least semi attractive. Glad you think so much of me.” Tim grinned, knowing that she was teasing yet unable to resist teasing her right back.
“I said at least!” Chloe was laughing almost too hard to eat ice cream. Then again it was her she managed to find a way to take the next bite he was offering despite her laughter. “You know I think you’re more than semi attractive.” She pointed out as she stuck her tongue out at him. “It takes semi attractive and sugar to seduce me... it gets extremely hot and sugar to get me to do most of the things I do with you.”
“Now that’s better,” he said with a smirk and kissed her nose, leaving a little bit of ice cream on it. Laughing, he reached out and wiped it off. “Remind me to pack lots of sugar for our trip, it should make things interesting. I do have to say though that at some point, we should probably leave our hotel room.”
“You pack the sugar.” Chloe told him laughing as he wiped the ice cream from her nose. ‘
And I’ll pack the silk scarves, deal? And we have like three weeks I’m sure we can manage to leave the hotel one of those days...”
“Silk scarves?” he raised an eyebrow, his pulse speeding up just at the thought of what she was implying. “I think that sounds like a great idea and as long as one of those days includes a gondola ride, I’m good.”
‘Silk scarves.” She nodded as she fed him another spoonful of ice cream, enjoying the look that flashed in his eyes as he realized what she was implying. “I think it’s my turn to use those on you, right?” She added with an arch of her brow and then quite innocently changed the subject. “A gondola ride. We must of course I mean we’ll be in Venice.”
Was it possible to choke on ice cream? Maybe not but Tim nearly did when she mentioned what she planned to do with the silk scarves she was packing. Once he’d gathered himself, he said “It’s required I believe. I think I read somewhere that you can’t leave the city until you take one so either we do it or we’re trapped there forever.”
Chloe couldn’t stop herself she burst into giggles as Tim nearly choked on the ice cream he was trying to swallow. She actually fully meant her words, or at least thought she might want to try it but his reaction made it all the more intriguing really. “It is required.” She agreed with a nod of her head. “City surrounded by water. A gondola ride is a must. Making out in a gondola? I think more of a must.”
“Oh of course. Making out in a gondola is something I always thought would be fun. Although I’m not quite brave enough to make love to you in one. That might get us arrested or something. Making out though? That I can do.” He grinned and leaned forward to kiss her again, letting his lips linger against hers for a moment.
“I don’t know it is Italy.” Chloe pointed out with a bit of a smirk. A smirk that dissolved when Tim kissed her and she started giggling again as she broke the lingering kiss. “Your lips are still cold” She pointed out still giggling. “And your priorities, we still have ice cream left!” She pointed out as she lifted the carton. They really didn’t have a lot left but it was fun to tease and joke with Tim. It always was.
He looked down at the carton and sighed. “Yes we do still have some left. I guess we’ll have to take care of that first and then you can warm my lips up.” With a smirk, he took the last bite of ice cream but left her a pile of gummy bears. “I left you the gummy bears. Don’t ever tell anyone I don’t care about you. I cared enough to leave you the very best.”
“The Gummy bears don’t taste the same without the ice cream.” Chloe pointed out sticking her tongue out at him before she scooped up the pile of gummy bears and ate them anyway.
“But the gummies still have ice cream residue on them so it counts,” he informed her with a grin. “and I noticed that you didn’t mind eating them.” It never ceased to amaze him how they could have such a good time doing the simplest things. He would never have believed it but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Okay, okay you have a point.” Chloe admitted when she finished chewing and swallowed the gummy bears.”the ice cream residue does add the flavor needed to complete this awesome desert.”
“I always have a point.” He grinned at her a little smugly and got up to throw the carton away. When he’d finished with that as well as tossing the spoons in the dishwasher, he returned to Chloe and sat down to put his arm around her. “I can’t believe that we finished off a whole carton of ice cream between the two of us. No, wait. Yes, I can.” Tim laughed and kissed her cheek. “So...are you staying tonight or headed back to the dorm? If you want to stay, you’re welcome or I’ll take you back.”
Chloe wasn’t surprised at all and she started laughing when Tim said he was. “We’ve been together officially almost a year.” She pointed out. Even though they’d chosen to celebrate their one year as the anniversary of that first kiss Chloe still thought of the day she’d called him after talking to Julie as the day they became official. “By now things like that shouldn’t surprise you at all.” She finished as she snuggled into his side. “And I was thinking of staying actually.” She admitted. “I don’t have anything to do in the morning, neither do you. There’s no reason I have to be back at the dorms tonight.” The truth was while she loved that they did their own separate things she’d been so busy with the play that they hadn’t even gotten their twice a week dates that they’d tried to do and even if they had...she was starting to think spending more time with him wasn’t a horrible thing. She never wanted to be that couple who was attached at the hip but they didn’t have to be so drastic about not being that either.
“I won’t protest that at all,” he said and leaned over to kiss her lightly. Tim loved having her there, he’d grown used to her being with him after the miscarriage and the bigger house seemed empty without her there. “And since you’re free until you have to be at the PAC, I think that is a great idea. I’m guessing you want to take a shower? I’ll let you go first while I straighten up in here.”
I think you’re right. I do want to take a shower.” A nice long one to relax the muscles that had tensed because of her nerves all day and to make sure all the residual stage make up was washed off. Yes, a long shower seemed heavenly and Chloe paused to kiss Tim before standing up. “Only of course if you promise to help me with the lotion applying afterward?” She asked with a bit of a coy smirk. “And if you’re real lucky I might even let you give me a back massage. “
He grinned up at her, reaching out for her hand to give it a squeeze. “Well then I hope I get lucky.” Giving her hand a quick kiss, he pointed her toward the bedroom. “Go. I’ll see you in a few minutes.”
