Who: October and Josh
Where: Photography class
What: No more seats except for next to the scary guy
When: Morning
Rating: R for language
October sat in his class waiting for it to start. He was tired, up late on a drinking binge and doing homework. Some how the two always went hand in hand with him. As per usual, the rest of the class had avoided him like the plague, leaving the only empty seat next to him. Not that he really cared. He prefered it actually. That meant he didn't have an annoying little pansy ass sitting next to him. He was messing around with his camera waiting on class to start, just screwing around and taking pictures of the girls' asses that were in front of him. Great black mail for later.
Josh was running late. This was nothing new, Josh was usually running late. He always came to this class directly from the darkroom and as far as he was concerned, the darkroom was more important. Lab work was certainly more labor intensive and timing was crucial. Josh could not leave a batch of photos before they were devolved. Any mistake could ruin his film and until it was safe to go, he stayed. So he was always running late. This didn't always work out in his favor, especially not now when the rest of the class was already seated and the only open space was at a work table with the new transfer who reeked of cigarette smoke. Josh smoked occasionally, but at least he had the sense not to walk around smelling like an ashtray. Frowning, he slipped into the seat next to October, dropping his backpack on the floor and putting his camera bag on the table in front of him. The guy in the next seat had his camera out and Josh could tell just by line of the sight there was nothing to shoot and he rolled his eyes.
"You got a problem Mr. A&F?" October grunted, feeling the guy that just sat down next to him looking at him. He saved the recent photo and took the memory stick out before putting the actual one in that was required for class. "Or has it been fixed?" He turned finally looking at the clean cut guy while he sat there in black shredded jeans and a rock t-shirt with his hair all spiked out with kohl eyeliner around his brown eyes. It was an intimidating stare, one he used often to make others leave him alone.
Josh raised his eyebrows, immediately annoyed. It was true, the stare was intimidating but Josh resented the attempt. "Was I even talking to you?"
"No, but your eyes seem to be stuck, need me smack your head a few times to get the fuckers loose?" He growled, earning a glance from the girl in front of him whom he'd just taken pictures of. He glanced at her, blowing her a kiss before she turned around with a disgusted look on her face.
What the hell was this guy's problem? All Josh had done was sit down. "I'm surprised you can see anything through all that guyliner," he muttered.
"You know I could say the same thing about you and your black eyes," October spat back.
Josh gave a look that clearly said he had no idea what that even meant. "Whatever," he said, turning his attention to unpacking his camera.
October rolled his eyes as he scratched his nose under the small hoop in his left nostril as he started to take his camera apart for the hell of it. He hadn't bothered to read the guid on how to do it or to put it back. It didn't matter, he'd be able to to do it anyways.
Josh scowled down at his camera equipment, watching October out of the corner of his eye. "You're going to fuck up your lens if you keep doing it like that."
"Then I'll fuck it up," October said not even looking at him as he started to put it back together with no problem.
That was fine with Josh - it wasn't his camera. Silently, he ignored his seatmate and tried to focus on the professor.
October didn't really care about this class, it was just a filler and an easy one as he got his camera back together. When it was time to take a few 'practice shots' October was ready and camera working. Even managing a few flashes in his seatmate's face followed by a snicker.
Josh didn't understand why the guy was pushing this. What pleasure did he get out of being an asshole? This wasn't high school and he hadn't done anything but have the misfortune to sit down. "What the hell is your problem?"
"My problem is you asswipe," October sneered. "You come in here and think you're all that and your cop out is you don't say anything to instigate it, but your looks enough for me."
"At least I don't look like my only career ambition is to knock over a liquor store." God, he was tired of this. "Why don't you take the stick out of your ass?"
"For your information, I already did that," October snorted. "Why don't you first?"
"Oh, that's right. They must have pulled it out when they did that cavity search in prison." What did he have to do to be left alone?
October rolled his yes. "Yeah right before I got my uniform," he sighed as he went back to his own camera, looking outside the window and taking shots of squirrls and flowers, actually looking half decent.
With a glance over at October, Josh packed his professional camera back into his bag and pulled it closer to him. Instead of his good camera, he'd use one of his less expensive ones.
"I'm not gonna steal it," October said, taking pictures of the class now, getting candid shots of conversation and what not. "Though you should worry about your wallet hanging out of your ass pocket. It's barely in there."
"Maybe you should worry about your photos instead of my stuff." Still, Josh checked his wallet, shoving it down deeper in his pocket.
"I'm done," October said. "Wasting your whole time worrying about me got you no where," he said putting everything away.
Pointedly, Josh turned away. He was done too. What an asshole.
Picking up his bag, October headed for the door, but not before turning and blowing Josh a kiss with a smirk and wave. "Later pumpkin."
