The best part of being a grad student at McDermott is: "Being here! I love Westmont so far, and I love this campus. It's a great college. My professors are all very good, and I'm learning to refine my craft." The worst part of being a grad student at McDermott is: "It's hard to take classes in other departments. I have lots of interests, not just art, but that's not what I'm really here for. Guess I should've come here for undergrad!" My name comes from: "The Welsh word 'caru', which means 'love'. I'm not named for anyone. My mother just picked a name she really liked." Someone who inspires me is: "My big brother, David. He's been sick with arthritis on and off since he was really young, but he still lives his life to the fullest." A cause I feel strongly about is: "Child advocacy. There are so many kids in the world who don't have people to look after them, and we here are so blessed. We should do something to help." My goals for after college are: "Ideally, I'd love to do freelance work for companies and individuals, but I think it'd be great to work for a film or video game company for a while. I'm not a gamer, but the art they market with makes me wish I were!" My favorite song is _ (because) _: "That's difficult! Let me see ... I love 'Here Comes the Sun' by the Beatles. It's just such a good song to start the day with. It makes me feel like good times are, if not already here, just around the corner." A fun fact about me is: "I'm a vegetarian! ... sometimes. It's difficult, but I succeed most of the time. I definitely don't eat red meat, but sometimes I'll have fish or white meat. Rarely, though." I prefer _ over _ because: "Potato bread over white bread because it tastes better. I also prefer wheat bread over white bread. But when it comes to potato bread vs. wheat bread, I'm a mess!" One thing I wish more people knew about me is: "I can be helpful in a pinch. Honestly! Call it creative brain, call it luck -- whatever it is, it's true! Actually, my friends in undergrad had a nickname for me, 'nuestra señora de la suerte' ('our lady of luck') for that very reason." |
