Characters: Kevin Whitby and Jade Dorny, with a cameo from an NPC Flitwick.
Setting: The Charms corridor, outside Flitwick's office.
Rating: PG13? May change.
Summary: What started off as two students going to see a teacher ends up as former torturer meets former victim.
"Point... and swirl... and drag... and point! That's the ticket Whitby, well done! See, you can do it!"
People passing outside, had they been Muggles or students who didn't know any better, would have wondered if perhaps the tiny Professor Flitwick was giving dance lessons. Those who had been in a certain fifth year Charms lesson, however, may have made the connection between the student he addressed and the wand movement he was observing. Kevin had made the error of attempting the complicated Replication charm whilst being distracted by a number of thoughts - Quidditch, his upcoming Hogsmeade date with Chelsea, and most recently his father's medical progress - and the resulting spread of eggs around the castle was still embarrassing him.
As a result, Professor Flitwick had asked him to practice the charm for extra homework, and not wishing to let his teacher down, Kevin had been practising hard. He subsequently replicated pencils, quills, the organiser on Flitwick's desk and even the eggs that had proved so troublesome, and finished with a flourish, making a perfect copy of his own wand (not a functioning one, of course). Beaming at the praise he received - for it was not often such praise was given - Kevin began to wonder if it was actually going to be a good day.
