Re: badinage | 7-31-2020 | 9am “I’m never leaving. You have me. A partner, a spouse. Not married by any traditional sense, of course. We just met after all. But we are joined somewhere deep and meaningful - you never need to wonder if I’m going to be there for you.”
As a bookmen, Nathaniel tended to use his words carefully. Usually wielding them with purpose and power. It was often poetic. But when he said 'spouse', instead of a clever blade in his hand, Zap felt an emotional equivalent to an infinity symbol. His definition of 'spouse' and the other words he'd utilized conveyed a clear message: unending. Her smart-person brain had put all that together, but her feelings-person heart had been glad to hear the next part and to get a hug: “I love you. I trust you. I’m not going anywhere.”
"Neither am I." She promised after a sniffle. They had a wet kiss and she smiled. His own was contagious and a bit nasty, and it turned Zap's into a grin. "'In my aura'," she teased his choice of words. "C'mon. I told Logan I'd save him some bacon." She gave Nate a final squeezy hug and a kiss on his ear and moved around him to head back inside to supervise. "Good morning," she greeted her father and rose up to kiss his temple as he worked on his breakfast plate.
Eva began pouring herself a mimosa after the conversation she'd just had, a pre-cursor to the conversation that loomed on the horizon. "I'm saving my seconds for when everyone else gets here. And Bookman has yet to have a last dab..." She flashed Nate a grin once he'd joined them. In Nate's defense, he probably hadn't been exposed to chicken and waffles. Or hot sauce at breakfast. He'd learn.
