"Yes, she told me that," Eric confirmed. "She was remorseful," he also verified. "But I don't think Eva regretted it," aside from how it might have made Eric feel. He knew she had no desire to hurt the blond man.
Eric concentrated his memories on the exact conversation from Eva's office because he also wanted to be honest with Giosetta. "She didn't want me to put myself below her," he tried to remember her exact words. "To put the search for myself on hold for her," Eric told Jo.
He shifted in his seat again and mulled over Jo's words about Eva being a worrier or a pusher. "Yes, she's an active encourager, but then she stopped and tried to take it back. Told me to do what I wanted to do and not listen to her," Eric explained. "I don't think she knows what she wants, which means I haven't made a good enough case it should be me."
"I'm sorry," Eric told his co-worker. "I know you're friends with Nathaniel and Eva. This isn't a fair position to put you in." Eric stared at his protein shake and felt an unease settle into his stomach. "And yes, it goes without saying, you're also amazing and obscenely attractive." He said with a smile but a sincere one. "I've always had an affinity for women who dedicate themselves to medicine - to healing," Eric added, not she needed his evaluation. "Maybe I'm too far in my own head. We're supposed to talk face-to-face later, but I have a feeling something is going to happen on their day trip." His confidence that the Four Silverclouds and Nathaniel went anywhere and everything remained peaceful was so low it was in the basement.
