Re: Cantankerous | 7-28-2020 | Lunchtime "Don't." She gave a subtle wink.
Jon's body language shifted appropriately to the odd bomb she'd just dropped. Jo was decidedly bad at sharing unfortunate news that was unrelated to patients and medicine.
"Thank you." He made eye contact and she nodded earnestly, but was very quick to redirect her expression to reflect her stunned state. "Zap can have a pretty intense relationship with a cheese pizza if she's hungry enough." Just wow. "Harsh," she said quietly with a bit of a hiss as she drew out the word, but she gave him a sympathetic smirk of understanding. "Don't tell her I said that." Jo's gloved hand rose and she made the universal 'zipping my lips' gesture.
The gruff paternal figure went off on a sudden tangent about the boys, but surprised her again when Jon said he had faith in her. Jo's eyebrows rose, as if meeting the challenge, and she nodded her head. She did know the gravity of their ordeal. "If he keeps getting love bites from beyond the veil, I don't think he'll easily forget," she paused and cleared her throat, giving her monotone delivery a second thought. More sincerely: "I will." And yes, she did know about Eva. So she wouldn't judge Silvercloud Sr too strongly for what she had been trying to express to Nate, herself.
"Aye, aye," the Italian gave a sharp (and badly executed) salute with her left hand as her right came to meet Jon's. "Jason," left hand pointed to Jon, "Tiphys," thumbed back at herself. "Got it." She hadn't ever really noticed the Native's affinity for the ancient writers from her family's neck of the woods, but his literary interpretations hadn't gone unnoticed by the doctor. "Just watch out for falling trees," she joked. Or masts, rather.
