Re: Clout | 7-28-2020 | Afternoon
Well, Nate's sense of humor was still in tact. He'd volleyed Troy's off-the-cuff-ness with ease and even made a reference to one of the few Disney films about brown people. Zap's eyes shifted at lightning speed to Troy, and she could tell he'd clocked it.
"Alright," Troy began, having been turned away from, "I'm out. Boom, babies." He threw up deuces and walked away after a quick heel turn, falling to a natural swaggy cadence as he stared down at his phone. "Oh, tell him about Columbus Day," he called back without turning. It was still called that back when it happened, so there was no chance of her misinterpreting.
Eva's eyebrows rose when Nate approached her with a flurry of information and anxious energy. She had done her best to ignore Troy's parting shot, but it was going to nag at her. She had a feeling Troy might have told the story if she hadn't arrived. It wasn't just his to tell.
"The moon." Got it. "Are you implying I am a lunatique?" She was teasing, and she grin with faux-sheepishness to show it. "Good morning, by the way," she added as she leaned in for a semi-hug of greeting. Her lips connected with his cheekbone, and at first she didn't give it a second thought. It was the same she might have done to any close friend.
"When you're ready."
Despite having had little to no rest, they had all remained fairly vigilant and focused throughout the night. The smell of Nate's un-showered hair remained in her brain as a vivid recollection, and that was when she gave her affection a revisitation. "I'm ready."
Her squared position was broken opposite her would-be tutor, and she began to visually explore their surroundings, refamiliarizing herself with the atrium. She'd even glanced back behind her where she'd entered from the east. Funny. "I called off classes for the students today, in case we need help from one of the staff. And Eric said he'd like to help if he can."
Eva turned from her once-over of the room and watched Nate's face again. "Will we be opening doors or hitting the books?" She was perfectly comfortable to do some studying before exposing herself (and everyone near by) to beyond the veil. "I know this place is a lot for you to take in; don't be afraid to ask questions, yeah? We'll help each other learn."
