Re: Panacea | 4-15-2020 | Evening
Nathaniel had to restrain himself from objecting loudly when Eva mentioned her instinct to flee. Instead his face showed genuine concern, then something more playful when she painted the picture of Nate being alone. "No, not the wine," he confirmed along with Evangeline. He watched as she struggled with her feelings and the emotions of the moment, of their new relationship. Which is when a light bulb illuminated above his head, but it wasn't a hypothesis he'd simply toss out during dinner. Nathaniel would need to do more research.
Then Eva's words continued, "I want you too," Nathaniel said almost immediately after Eva's statement. "Near, yes," he corrected slightly, then focused his mind for a moment. The door to the private room remained unlocked, completely accessible, but Nathaniel placed a fog about the entrance. They would be left alone, even by people such as the waiter who knew they were dining within. His legs pushed his chair back from the table and his long arms reached out for Eva. "Perhaps, this isn't a loss of control," Nathaniel countered and gently urged a shaky Eva from her chair. Doing most of the work, Nathaniel ushered the mayor from her seat, onto his lap, her legs hanging from the side of his chair. Nearly at eye level to each other, because of their height difference, Nate's arms steadied her and he allowed her to anchor herself to him. "I don't know what this is, Eva," Nathaniel admitted with their faces dangerously close. "This desperation to touch you starting with that handshake, I've never experienced this before," he both explained and cautioned. "But I'm going to kiss you now," he warned, having run out of witty things to say. Nathaniel's lips pressed gently against Eva's... Something within him aligned and Nathaniel's body vibrated against hers. This was correct, he felt in within his bones. "I feel as though the universe wants to swallow us whole and I can't find a reason to resist," he said before he kissed her again. "Stay with me," he pleaded.
