Jon silently fumed for a moment, were someone at the right angle they might have seen the steam which escaped his ears. Forge had underestimated this librarian, though he wouldn't make that mistake again. Could he prove he'd used his son's disappointment to tug on Eva's heartstrings? Of course not. Which is why he wouldn't accuse Nathaniel of it. But did he doubt that the man would? Not for a second. "Alright, Mr. Zale. Answer me this question. You claimed you had no prior knowledge of our family before two days ago. How were you able to discover so much in such a short time?" Jon asked and his eyes narrowed on the newcomer.
Nathaniel had quietly thanked Eva for her words and clear concern for Brayden, though he quickly returned his focus to Forge when the older man spoke. "Honestly," Nathaniel began and his eyes focused on Eva. "I was told, by my..." Nate visibly struggled for the word but chose one that Eva's Dungeons and Dragons aptitude would assist with. "My patron," he said then attempted to hold Eva's eye contact before she jumped to any conclusions. "Let me make this clear, your mystic abilities come from within and are very much connected to your genes. My mutation, on the other hand, doesn't work the same way," he continued and tried to explain quickly and on the spot. "It's as if my mutation is to control flame... but I can't create the fire itself," Nathaniel said, hoping that explanation would help. "I need a source, a connection to the ethereal plane. And I have one. And believe it or not, it is Asgardian. This is why the Asgardians felt comfortable approaching me," Nathaniel told mostly Eva. "And right before I sat down at this table, my patron explained your family's situation to me. And I think I know how to help," Nate finished on what he hoped was a high note.
