Re: Force Majeure | 4-15-2020 | Afternoon
He was rather assertive, wasn't he? It was a flicker of a thought. There were much larger scale things to focus on. 1) There was apparently a person missing in her town and the authorities were not aware. 2) The stirring newcomer was asking for her help and for her to do things she'd promised not to. That was where the mayor felt conflicted. And so her posture reflected, as her shoulders drooped and her head tilted forward slightly as if nodding goodbye to the sunlight that came in through the windows of the front doors.
She turned. "You're lucky you have a trustworthy face." Even she wasn't sure if it was a joke. Of course, she wasn't signing up to put herself or others in harm's way by entertaining questionable conversations with this man. But the feelings she'd experienced in his presence were hard to ignore as anything but pure; neutral. Neither dark nor light. "Let's go," she gestured toward the back - an office, the restricted section, wherever it was he felt comfortable enough to give her the details. Even if she didn't play along with his MTG, there was still an honest incentive, nay duty, for her to stay and listen. "Pick that up," she suggested as she moved around him and to the nearest aisle.
Mentally, she was sending out messages to all her favorite red flag receivers - her father, Dom, Jimmy, Kaya... Just with her whereabouts and a vague idea of what was being discussed.
