"I think that is a very good idea," Thea said of Loki asking Eva to speak with the Queen of Alfheim. The Midgardian queen had a good head on her shoulders and she and Skadi got a long well, as far as she knew. Her thoughts had wandered while her voice spoke reason and it had nothing to do with the coming negotiations with Jotunheim. Her mind was swimming with thoughts and feelings and she was struggling to put them into words.
Loki's warm hands enveloped her own and she lifted her eyes to his. "I..." the usually articulate goddess trailed off, offering a smile in apology. "You asked me to picture myself in Skadi's shoes," she continued, her voice quiet. "I did that and I found that I am a little envious of what she has." A loving husband, children (even if they were not her own). "I am afraid that something bad might happen to you," she admitted, tears pricked her eyes. "What if they want a war?" Her hands squeezed his and she swallowed, hard. "I do not want to lose you."
