Eva had said yes! Yes! Nathaniel was suddenly filled with a combination of emotions that forced his stoic features into an elated smile. He’d known, he’d always known this was their path, but to see it happen... it was astounding. No, she was astounding.
The king rose and internally processed his own Charlies Dickens moment. He was Scrooge yelling from the window asking the street urchin what day it was. Thrilled that he hadn’t missed his chance.
Nathaniel matched her stare and the room blurred. She was all that mattered, all that he saw, all that he wanted to see. Yes, it was real. “I never doubted,” he assured her.
When Eva started to dance, sing... when the music started, Nate laughed. It was genuine and it knocked the tears from his eyes, and it was glorious. Then he remembered. “The music...” he started but it was too late. Ghosts, specters, and lost souls began to invade the throne room. They floated and phased through the walls and floors, immediately starting to mingle on the floor before the thrones. Then they started to dance... “If you play music in this chamber the castle ghosts come,” Nate explained with a shade of bewilderment. It wasn’t what people expected from the castle of the dead. But, not to leave his future wife hanging, Nate started to dance as well. “Good song choice,” Nate complimented Eva, then used his arms to snag her hips and steal a kiss. “What now?” he wondered aloud. “After the obvious spirit Soul Train line,” clearly. “I love you, I don’t want to wait,” he shared, then another, more tender kiss.
