Re: Tergiversate
Thor listened to Eva's preamble, but his eyes narrowed when she reached her most important three words. She felt trapped. The Allfather's head bounced rhythmically in understanding while he tailored his next sentence carefully. "I know," he began - not wanting to seem dense to the facts of the situation. "I'm sorry, again," for yesterday, Thor didn't add because he felt it was unnecessary. The further he traveled from the incident he realized much of his angst was based in his confusion. When he allowed Nathaniel to enter their relationship... he'd never considered the fact that things might have turned this way. And to Eva's credit, he didn't believe she had either. "I love you - not just as the woman you are, but in what you've become here," mother, queen, defender of Asgard. "But I can hear you," he told her with a rather heavy sigh. "This palace is a prison for no one. Tell me what you need from me, so I may avoid a repeat of yesterday. My heart could not stand to see you in that state again."
